West Bengal assembly elections: 78.36% voter turnout until 5 pm

At minimum 78.36 per cent voter turnout was registered till five pm on Saturday through the fifth section of polling held in 45 assembly constituencies spread in 6 districts of West Bengal, CEO Aariz Aftab explained.

The highest eighty one.73 per cent of voters’ turnout was registered in Jalpaiguri district, adopted by Purba Bardhaman (eighty one.72 per cent), Nadia (eighty one.fifty seven per cent), North 24 Parganas (seventy four.eighty three per cent), Darjeeling (seventy four.31 per cent) and Kalimpong (69.56 per cent), he explained.

“By and huge polling has been tranquil in Bengal these days barring a several incidents of some violence,” a senior official at the CEO explained.

There were being studies of clashes involving TMC and BJP employees at Shantinagar region of Bidhannagar in which 8 individuals were being wounded, although at Siliguri there was a scuffle involving TMC and CPI(M) supporters outdoors a polling booth.
