Have not shared any info of Indian users with Chinese govt: TikTok on ban

A working day immediately after it was banned by the governing administration alongside with 58 other Chinese applications, TikTok stated on Tuesday that it shall continue to comply with all knowledge privacy and safety needs underneath Indian legislation and has not shared any information of Indian people with any foreign governments, such as the Chinese governing administration.

“TikTok has democratised the net by producing it readily available in 14 Indian languages, with hundreds of millions of people, artists, story tellers, educators and performers relying on it for their livelihood, quite a few of whom are initial time net people,” Tik Tok India head Nikhil Gandhi stated in official assertion.

The assertion was released immediately after the governing administration of India put a ban on the use of fifty nine Chinese applications, such as TikTok. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on Monday invoked its electrical power underneath section 69A of the Information Technology Act to put a ban on these applications and termed their use ‘prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, safety of condition and public order’.

TikTok was taken down from Google’s Play Retailer and Apple’s Application Retailer on Tuesday early morning. The app is not readily available for downloads on any official app distribution platform. Nevertheless, it proceeds to do the job for men and women who have now downloaded and put in it on their smartphones.
